The Ashland Museum will lead a tour through the historic downtown area on December 4. We will discuss the original owners, the architectural styles, and the new uses of old buildings.
Then tour will continue down Railroad Avenue emphasizing the different architecture of the homes in this historic neighborhood. We will stop for a wine and cheese reception at 708 S. Center St., formerly Railroad Avenue. This 1896 Dutch Colonial Revival home, owned by David and Jean Kelly, was designed by Richmond architect Julian Powers Fox for Fanny Miller Fox and her husband Flemming Fox. From there we will return to the Museum.
The 90-minute tour will be offered at 2:00 pm and again at 4:00 pm. Each tour begins and ends at the Ashland Museum, at 105 Hanover Ave., next to Ashland’s Red Caboose.
We hope you can join us for one of our tours this holiday season.
The tour benefits the Ashland Museum outreach programs.
Tickets are $15 for museum members in advance, $25 in advance for non-members, and $30 at the door for all on December 4. Reservations are encouraged, as each tour has limited space.
