Exhibit Opening – Bringing in a New Century

On April 23, 2015, Ashland Museum Members enjoyed a festive event celebrating the opening of the Ashland Museum's newest exhibit - Bringing in a New Century: 1900-1940. Tours of the new exhibit, dancers in period costumes, and vintage automobiles made this a very special, fun event. For more photos from the event, click here. History Camp 2014

Feedback from parents who attended our January programs for children has led us to try something different this summer. Ashland Museum History Camp for 2014 is called Summer Saturdays. We'll have a history-themed program on the fourth Saturday of each month from May through August. The programs will run from 10:00 - 11:30 am and will be for children ages 7-12. Untold Stories 2014 – Growing Up in Ashland/Hanover – Black and White Experiences

D.B. Cox Building Historic Marker Dedication

On Saturday, May 4, 2013, 11 am, a bronze plaque was unveiled, commemorating the D.B. Cox Department Store, an anchor business in downtown Ashland from 1867 to 1955. The plaque was unveiled at the historic D.B. Cox building, erected in 1913 on the corner of Railroad Ave. and Thompson St. (Rt 54). The D.B. Founders Day Celebration – Feb. 16, 2013

Ashland was incorporated as a town by the Virginia General Assembly on the 19th of February, 1858.  Every year we celebrate our Founders Day on the weekend closest to the 19th.  In 2013, we celebrated on  Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the Ashland Museum, located at 105 Hanover Avenue. Grand Opening Event & Train Day – Nov. 10, 2012

Ashland celebrates Train Day on Saturday, Nov. 10. The official Grand Opening of the Ashland Museum will be a part of the festivities this year, with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 am. This will be followed by the premier of "A Railroad Runs Through It: Ashland's Railroad History" at the Ashland Firehouse Theatre at 11:00 am. Exhibit Preview is a Rousing Success!

The Members Preview event of our new exhibit, “From Antebellum Resort to Civil War Town: 1836-1865” on Thursday, Oct. 4, was a great success. We estimate that 150 to 200 Museum members and VIPs toured the new Ashland Museum space and saw the exhibit while enjoying food and beverages donated by local restaurants, caterers and businesses. Herald-Progress tours our upcoming exhibit

The Herald-Progress newspaper gave us a nice write-up on the front page of the September 20th edition. The article included a profile of the Museum and of our upcoming inaugural exhibit in our new Museum space at 105 Hanover Avenue. Board toasts the New Ashland Museum Space

Ashland Museum Board members raise a toast in their new Museum space at 105 Hanover Avenue before their April 2012 Board Meeting. The space has been cleaned and painted. Rolling walls to display exhibits have been constructed. All work on the space was done by Board members and many volunteers from the community.
