The Ashland Museum and the Ashland Branch of the Pamunkey Library are pleased to present talks by authors of books of interest to Museum Members, local residents and history buffs. These events are open to all and free. The Ashland Library is at 201 S. Railroad Ave., Ashland, VA 23005.
Thurs., Sept. 15, 7:00 pm at the Ashland Library – Jim Upton will discuss his new book, Leaving Neither Wife, Child nor Father, the first comprehensive history of Woodland Cemetery in Ashland, Virginia. This book is available for sale at the Ashland Museum and in our online Gift Shop.
Thurs., Oct. 13, 7:00 pm at the Ashland Library – Greg Glassner will talk about the presidential election of 1832, the emergence of national political conventions, the two-party system and the first third party candidate for president. Andrew Jackson, Henry Clay and William Wirt were candidates in 1832. His presentation is based on his book, Adopted Son, the Life, Wit & Wisdom of William Wirt, 1772-1834 (Gregory K. and Hardy Glassner, August 1997). This book is available for sale at the Ashland Museum.
